Senator Orji Kalu returns to parliament

APC Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) party returned to office on Tuesday after being released from the Kuje Prison in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

NAN reported that Kalu, who represents the people of Abia North, vowed to provide to his people what they vote him to, when he spoke to reporters shortly after his arrival at the National Assembly complex.

The senator, who is a former governor of Abia state, said his next action now is to replace what he had not achieved in the past six months.

Orji Kalu was sentenced to 12 years in prison for acquitting 7.65 billion naira by a Federal High Court on December 5, 2019.

However, a panel of judges in the Supreme Court rejected the ruling on the grounds that Judge Mohammed Idris, who delivered the verdict, had no power to do so and ordered his release.

The senator was released on Wednesday.

Godwin Obaseki has been predicted to win the coming APC primary election in Edo state by Adamawa state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri

As said by the governor, Obaseki is the democrat who will surely fight his way to secure APC ticket at the primaries despite the hurdles before him.

Adamawa Governor Fintiri also appreciates his Edo colleague for displaying overwhelmingly the spirit of tolerant partisanship towards the opposition party in the State.

With the step taken for a possible power shift in Edo, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has affirmed confidence in Godwin Obaseki appearing as the All Progressive Congress (APC) flagbearer.

Fintiri affirmed his confidence while showing support behind the embattled Edo governor who will contest with five frontline aspirants in the first battle to the heart of the state.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election is slated for June 22 but there has been internal unrest in the party which is brought out by the Adams Oshiomhole and Obaseki feud.

The ruling party had recently approved direct primary for the Edo state election but it was opposed by Obaseki loyalists who wanted the party to accept the alternative way approved by the APC constitution.

Speaking earlier on the election Monday, June 8, Fintiri described Obaseki as a democrat, saying the governor will find his way out of the current challenges.

Fintiri also appreciates his Edo counterpart for availing the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for the PDP primaries despite the state governor being an APC governor.
